The Plazoleta ARA Belgrano project is located next to the Monument to the Fallen in the Malvinas and was conceived as a themed play structure inspired by the ARA General Belgrano cruiser, used by the Argentine Navy during the Falklands War. Its inauguration coincided with an anniversary of the end of the conflict, reinforcing its commemorative and educational character.
The structure recreates the silhouette and presence of the cruiser, adapted to a playful scale that invites exploration, movement, and play. Access to the structure is through net climbing walls and stairs, allowing multiple ways to climb up and encouraging physical challenge. The route is rounded out with different descent options, such as a 0.9 m slide track, a 1.5 m loop slide, and 1.8 m slides, offering variety and dynamism.
Inside, the structure incorporates play panels that enrich the experience, promoting symbolic play, interaction, and dwell time. Designed for squares and parks, this project combines collective memory, national identity, and play, reshaping public space and bringing new generations closer to history through a thoughtful, meaningful play experience.
